With offices in downtown Pittsburgh, our principal service area spans western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and West Virginia. As president of the firm since 1998, I would like to acquaint you with the structural and cultural factors that have defined our firm’s success well into our fourth decade of service.

The competitive and dynamic nature of our litigation practice, together with a management culture that balances appropriate measures of autonomy and support, results in the very rapid acquisition of courtroom skills. From the beginning, the scope of our attorneys’ accumulated trial work – in cases ranging from very straightforward to the most complex – has been our firm’s most dominant characteristic. Adding our continually growing practices in business transactions, municipal law, public finance and government relations provides a more complete view of Grogan Graffam today: a multi-dimensional law firm that elects to do many things well.

That business profile, and the levels of professional satisfaction it generates, has enabled us to retain our core professionals for periods well beyond the norm. Our shareholders’ average tenure exceeds 15 years. We take similar pride in our equally stable relationships with our most active clients. Consequently, our attorneys are quite familiar with the experience of prevailing in disputes on behalf of clients we have represented for years.

Another dimension to our firm that enhances our performance is our uncommon involvement in activities to improve our profession. Our current attorney roster includes the 2010/2011 president of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, a past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, a past president of the Allegheny County Bar Association and a past president of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute. Two Grogan Graffam “alumni,” meanwhile, serve on state and federal benches. Additionally, a number of our shareholders conduct seminars for clients and lawyers related to their respective practice specialties, and they participate regularly in continuing education programs and other bar association initiatives. We view the degree of our involvement as an expression of respect for our profession.
